The Lake Yacht Racing Association most commonly referred to, as LYRA is more than an annual regatta that moves between member clubs each July/August. Since its inception in 1884 LYRA’s mission has been to promote and encourage sportsmanship and competition among sailors on both shores. To that end LYRA has run the Annual Regatta in various forms since 1884 and has been for the most part the premier event that sailors look for on Lake Ontario. The collection of trophies that sailors compete for each year is second to none, both in their historical content and their competitive value.Browse through the winners, I am sure that you will recognize many of the competitors!
LYRA Trophies are divided into several categories base upon the handicapping program currently in place, One Design, Distance and Course Racing, and special recognition awards. Check out the links below to view the rich history of the many LYRA trophies.
